The climate here is very dry and sunny, with cool nights and early mornings. The pros of that are obvious, and the cons are that part of the year the green grass you see in our back yard photos is completely brown. Some of the photos show a jacuzzi, but it recently gave up the ghost. We never used it much, so we are not planning on replacing it. We have a young medium-sized short-haired dog named Olita who was rescued in Mexico (who can go stay with friends during exchanges), and a cat with cattitude named Charlotte. We also have chickens! We hope home exchangers would want to take care of Charlotte and the hens and enjoy the fresh eggs. Their entertainment value is much higher than the level of care they need :0). Our old shepherd mix Oscar died in Feb ‘21, but he might still be in some of the photos of our listing. For short stays, last-minute stays and for non-simultaneous exchanges with one couple, the easiest for us is to make part of our main house available: one 13’x14’ master bedroom with a king-size bed, one 11’ by 11’ bedroom/office with an XL twin bed, the larger bathroom, the kitchen/dining/living area, and of course the backyard with covered patio. My husband and I and any others could then stay in the other part of the house, including side kitchen, our guest bedroom +bath + office. We would give you the utmost privacy! If we agree on this type of arrangement, where you have the use of most of our home but not all of it, we do not offer a reduction in points. We figure your “plus” is that we make the main part of our home available to you, during a time when finding a nice quiet, affordable place in Santa Barbara would otherwise not be possible. An example is during summer, the weekends, and holidays.
